There are already enough fake and parody accounts on Twitter as it is. The MLB Trade Deadline's final few hours gave us a few fake account announcing fake trades and one that was actually shown on MLB Network as if it came from the real Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Seems like Rosenthal is the most impersonated insider. MLB Network fell for a fake Rosenthal account and put it on television. And another one from another fake Rosenthal account. Here's some advice if you want to avoid looking like an idiot and retweeting a fake accounts fake report. It helps if you look at the persons Twitter handle. Twitter user, @Daily_Tunez decided to impersonate USA Today baseball reporter Bob Nightengale and tweet out a three way trade between Pittsburgh, Detroit and Tampa Bay. Price going to the Tigers is the only thing right in this tweet. Also, check how many followers these accounts have. The Real Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) has around 79,200 followers. @DailyTunez has 71. 515 people didn't check the handle and number of followers before retweeting this. But don't feel bad, everyone gets duped by a fake account once in a while. Just remember not to feed the trolls next time.
