FXX's "DEEDLY" Promo For the Simpsons Is stuck in My Head

If you follow me on twitter (@SPGallagher2), you know I have been tweeting occasionally about the "Every Simpsons Ever" marathon for the past 11 days. Sorry. Well, not sorry.

The marathon is in its 11th day and Episode 500 just aired. FXX also unveiled its schedule for The Simpsons following the 12 day marathon. They'll show 24 hours of Simpsons (48 episodes) a week.

They've also released new promos for The Simpsons on FXX.

This one includes Ned Flanders, or "Stupid Flanders" or "Stupid, sexy Flander" as Homer calls him.

They edit Flanders' head on normal people dancing to country music, as well as a male cheerleader, while a song that is kind of like "Cotton Eye Joe" plays. You listen to it a few times, it's stuck in your head all day.
My question: Who came up with this song that goes along with Ned's diddly lingo? Did someone write it on the spot for the commercial? Did someone else write it?

After doing some investigative reporting (kind of sad I did it for this), the song is called Diddley Dee by Cartoons, a Danish band more known for their Euro Club version of the song "Witch Doctor." The band was should have been a warning that others like Aqua, who are known for "Barbie Girl," would emerge someday.

Here's the original song from the promo that Ned Flanders would say is "Fine Diddley-ine."

Thank you for the find, I hated only having 20 seconds on the commercial. I felt cheated and incomplete. This song has been added to my play list.

Can you please tell me what the name of the song is for the D'oh! commercial? The tune is extremely catchy.

Believe or not: I wrote that song. I worked in the same studio complex as The Cartoons, and I was asked if I could write a song for them. I had previously been a substitute with the band, when they were known as The Scooters.

On my way home that night (10 km on bicycle as I coudnt afford a car), I had time to think and be creative. It had to be kind of nonsense, and I thought of the jazz song "Doodling" by Horace Silver. Suddenly Diddley Dee popped up in my head.

I was sure it was going to be a hit - but I had no idea that it would be sung by Ned Flanders. Not many Danes (if any) have been involved in The Simpsons in any way.

If you don't believe me you can check with Wikipedia. My Sweedish friend Mikael Roupé came up with some additional lyrics. It was just fun to write the song and I'm happy you liked it... :-)
