Shippensburg Rallies Around Ralph, the "Steelers Guy" After He was Attacked

Many of you probably don't know, but I attended college at Shippensburg and lived off campus for three of my four years. I graduated back in 2012.

Recently, I saw the story about Ralph, or as most of us knew him as "The Steelers Guy."

Walking or driving up King Street, I'd see Ralph walking around town, in his Steelers gear, most notably his Roethlisberger jersey, wearing and expressing his love for the black and gold. Occasionally, Ralph's trek went past my house on Middle Spring Avenue.

Never personally met Ralph, but those who have met him have said nothing but nice things about him.

Ralph also has a developmental disability.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the story about Ralph getting attacked and given a black eye by a person who didn't like his passion for the Steelers. How could someone do that to a person like Ralph, or any person?

Local business owners rallied around Ralph. They are raising money for him and want get him out here to Pittsburgh for a Steelers game this season.

They were looking to raise $400, but they've already exceeded it. As of Wednesday morning, they have raised $2,358 for Ralph!

It's been great to see the community rally around Ralph, both residents and students alike.
